Here is a good example of up-cycling what would have been destined for trash and landfills. Alex demonstrates how to reuse components from a throw away printer. In this particular case, it is the wifi module than can be easily re-purposed into a USB Wifi dongle. In his post, he outlines the steps he took to figure out whether it would be usable or not. This is an excellent intro to would-be hackers and makers on process behind salvaging parts for future projects.

This approach opens many doors for Maker Movement enthusiasts, where hardware hackers will need to look into recycling common everyday things.
